Gianti Logistics, established in 2005, is one of the largest logistics companies in Georgia and across the Caucasus region. The company provides a full range of logistics services, including road, sea, rail, air and multimodal transportation services, with a strong focus on out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo. Gianti Logistics operates its own truck fleet, a customs-bonded terminal in Poti – one of the most important industrial zones in Georgia, as well as bonded and non-bonded warehouses located within the Tbilisi customs clearance zone.
Gianti Logistics has successfully delivered some of the region’s most demanding out-of-gauge (OOG) projects, contributing to landmark projects such as Mingachevir TPP, SOCAR Haor Modernization, Shah Deniz 1-2, South Caucasus Pipeline extension project, Chirag Oil and etc.
2025 was a demanding year for our team, as we executed the transportation of 38 complete wind turbine systems through mountainous terrain with sharp turns, steep gradients, and limited road infrastructure, making the operation exceptionally complex and high-risk.
The first stage of the project involved a comprehensive engineering and design stage, including detailed 2D and 3D simulations and technical drawings, which were then implemented under real operating conditions.
This phase focused on identifying bottlenecks and critical points requiring civil works, including land and property acquisition, demolition of obstacles, and infrastructure modifications.
At the same time, we acquired highly specialized equipment that had never been used in the country before, including tower carriers, tower adapters, and extendable blade trailers.
The next critical stage involved a detailed route assessment, as the transportation corridor included bridges and highways, as well as small towns, narrow roads, mountain terrain, and tunnels. In several areas, buildings were dismantled to widen the roadway, damaged road sections were repaired and leveled, and road surfaces were reinforced and modified to ensure the safe passage for oversized convoys.
This was followed by a full-scale test run using a mock-up to verify the performance of the blade trailer and the transportation techniques for blades as the longest WTG components under real operating conditions. The exercise also assessed the team’s ability to perform under pressure and confirmed that the truck drivers could execute the operation with full precision. The loaded convoy exceeded 92 meters in length.
The test transportation was successfully completed, confirming the accuracy of all calculations and forecasts.
After that, preparations for vessel operations began. The port area was prepared and organized by Gianti Logistics to ensure the safe and efficient handling of the cargo.
After several months planning and preparing, in 3rd quarter of 2025 first Vessel arrived in Poti Port, Vessel discharging operations were then carried out. Heavy cargo required specific handling methods, and the long turbine blades had to be unloaded from the vessel onto the trucks with extreme care. Needless to point out, that nor GEO ports has experience in such project handling, as this was firs ever project in the country of it’s scale. Each component was carefully handled and positioned in a temporary storage area for further delivery.
One key challenge was the limited project timeline, which coincided with winter. Transportation commenced under various conditions, such as heavy rainfall, snow, and strong winds. The destination area, Ruisi, is known for strong winds and demanding terrain. Following each rainfall and snowfall, mountain dirt roads became extremely difficult to navigate, necessitating towing assistance and additional traction support.
However, Gianti Logistics’ professional transport team and HSE supervisors did their best to handle the project with maximum care and without any incidents.
Through perfect synchronization between engineers, project managers, HSE Manager, drivers and hydraulic operators, the operation was executed with exceptional precision and efficiency, demonstrating Gianti Logistics’ high level of expertise, seamless coordination, and unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
This is how Gianti Logistics makes it happen.
